De Hoge Veluwe National Park is one of the largest nature reserves in The Netherlands. It covers no less than 5,400 hectares. The best way to explore the Park is by bike, on the 40 kilometres of cycle paths. Free White Bikes are available for use at all entrances. But you can also bring your own bike. Or hire an e-bike, cargo bike or tandem in the centre of the Park. The Park can also be explored on foot or by car. Our nature guides will tell you all about the animals and plants found in the woods, heaths and sand drifts. You might even see a wild boar or a red deer!
The unique thing about De Hoge Veluwe National Park is that besides nature, you will also find culture and architecture. Visit the Museonder, for example, and get a picture of everything that lives under the earth's surface. An architectural highlight is the Jachthuis Sint Hubertus, designed by H.P. Berlage. He designed not only the building, but also the complete interior. Book a guided tour so you can hear all the ins and outs about this fascinating building.
And walk the Berlage Walk, which goes around the Jachthuis pond and is also accessible for wheelchairs and prams. Entirely in keeping with the Kröller-Müllers' philosophy, who wanted everyone to enjoy their legacy. Also highly recommended: a visit to the famous Kröller-Müller Museum with its impressive collection of Van Goghs, temporary exhibitions and sculpture garden.
A day in the Park will make you hungry. At Restaurant De Hoge Veluwe, in the centre of the Park, you can have a delicious dinner. Afterwards, you can stay in the Park until closing time - in summer until 10 pm. Be sure to do so, because after 5 pm you’ll have the Park almost all to yourself. And one day is not enough? Then come back for another unforgettable day in De Hoge Veluwe National Park.
